We recently hosted a wellness webinar where participants learned tips to organize all aspects of their life: from work to the home to digitally, so they have the space and time to do what really matters to them.

First, Declutter to Organize

Clutter everywhere can make you feel disorganized and overwhelmed. You know the saying, a cluttered space is a cluttered mind. Use these tips to declutter your life and take control again.

1. Start Small

Start with a small area like your car or bathroom, or even your purse or wallet. Usually, these areas don’t hold many items of sentimental value.

2. Create a System

Sort items into district piles: Keep, Throw Away, Donate, and Maybe. Limit yourself to a small number of Maybe items to revisit later.

3. Reduce Paper Clutter

Generate a Keep pile and Toss pile, then set up a filing system for important papers you’re keeping. You can also go digital or paperless when available.

4. Clear Notifications

Use your time waiting in the school pick-up line or at a doctor’s office to clear digital clutter. Delete old emails, apps, and texts, and organize your desktop or phone with folders.

You may feel overwhelmed when you start thinking about every area you need to declutter. That’s completely normal, and it will take time, but it’s worth it!
