We hosted a wellness class where participants learned all about the importance of hydration, how to tell if they are dehydrated, and what to do to re-hydrate.

Importance of Hydration

The human body is about 60% water, which means it’s involved in many bodily processes and it’s extremely important to keep your body hydrated. Hydration helps with energy production, absorption of nutrients from food, strengthening your immune system, fueling muscles and cushioning joints, and optimal brain functioning. Here are three ways to stay hydrated and make each sip count.

1. Know your Habits

Exercise, diet, weather, medical conditions and bodily processes all contribute to dehydration.

Replacing fluids lost throughout the day can be easy if you take time to understand your habits.

2. Make it Colorful

Keep hydration fun and interesting by infusing your water with fresh fruits, veggies, and herbs

You can also focus on eating veggies and fruits with a high-water content.

3. Think Convenience

What’s an easy way to set yourself up for hydration success?

Buy a reusable water bottle, set a timer or download an app, stack your habits (every time you sit at your desk, take a sip).

Choose one or two strategies to start and be consistent! If you are interested in seeing the full wellness class, you can watch here. This class was taught by Certified Health and Life Coach Dr. Abby Horton
